Over the past year, I had the opportunity to be brought onto Oakland University's student run newspaper, The Oakland Post. I started as a graphic design intern and eventually transitioned to a graphic designer for the newspaper. I was fortunate enough to have been mentored by my editing manager and editor in chief to further enhance my skills as a graphic designer. Through the use of the Adobe Creative, I was tasked with formatting the layout for pages in the newspaper which were then later used for printing the physical copies of the paper themselves.
For the Valentine's Day 2023 issue, I was given the prompt of creating a visual for a story that coworker Autumn Okuszka had written representing the best self-love songs for Valentine's Day. I wanted to stick with a consistent color palette throughout the process while also having some color variation.

During the summer of 2023, popular rapper, Lil Uzi Vert released his studio album the Pink Tape. One of my fellow coworkers Chelsea Bossert wrote an review for this album within the Arts column of the newspaper. As opposed to taking the cover image from the album cover, I offered to create a visual that would best represented the artist's music.

For our November 2023 special edition, we pulled images and articles from the Oakland Post's personal archive to create a "blast through the past" issue centered around highlighting the rich history of Oakland University. My managing editor and I collaged our found images taken from the early years of the university in order to allow readers to get an idea of the importance of Oakland's legacy throughout the years.
Pictured up top is Wilson Hall which houses the Meadow Brook theatre and Wilson Art Gallery. In the middle, is a sign of the the former name of the university, Michigan State University - Oakland during its opening in 1957 before it was renamed to Oakland University.
